Abstract:
This event was held for the first time in Samoa a cultural initiative by the Consular office of Chile in Samoa and several other contributing companies that help sponsored and hosted the film festival that ran for a week in October. Twelve films were nominated and submitted to the Film Censorship office the Ministry of Justice and all have been approved for public viewing. As suggested by the Minister of Education, Sports and Culture, Hon. Magele M. Magele, the complimentary catering was requested to the Country Manager of APTC. • As part of their education and practice they provided free of cost the catering with a "Taste of Latin America & Spain" finger food and homemade lemonade "vai tipolo". • Alocoholic drinks where provided by Latin America and Spain Embassies in Wellington and typical drinks were prepared and served by APTC students. This was a well received exercise and experience, a good opportunity for the students of APTC. The NUS Conference room and lecture theatre were also made available free of charge to be used for viewing and despite the poor turnout from staff and students, there were may more outsiders especially the expatriate community who had shown interest to be part of the audience. There was also plans for the NUS to host the next Film festival and look for funds to carry out this event as part of its annual programme.
